A common question that potential customers ask us is how Cybereason's endpoint detection and response platform differs from what's offered by other vendors. That's a question worth asking given the number of products that are on the market. From next-generation antivirus (NGAV) programs to solutions that offer some type of data analysis to products that subscribe you to the latest threat feeds, there are tons of products aimed at keeping companies safe from attackers.
But not every solution can offer real-time monitoring across all endpoints and servers, automated hunting and an end-to-end view of all malicious activities occurring in a company's environment.
Next-generation antivirus programs focus on detecting malware in the context of a single machine. However, detecting sophisticated attacks requires knowing what's going on every machine across your entire environment. This comprehensive view lets you see each activity in context, enabling a company to determine if an incident is benign or actually malicious.
Solutions that look beyond malware and individual machines tend to collect or record endpoint activity and expect security analysts to continuously ask questions and perform analysis to determine if there is an attack underway. This requires a large number of specialized experts who are expected to know what questions to ask and ask them 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
In reality, there's an acute shortage of security talent. This lack of security professionals forces organizations to choose between either delaying a response to an attack or superficially closing tickets without understanding the scope and severity of attacks. Neither option is ideal. Delaying a response allows attackers to continue their campaign and potentially exfiltrate more information or cause greater damage. Prematurely closing a ticket increases the chance that the security incident wasn't fully eradicated and will eventually return.
Cybereason performs behavioral analysis across all data from every machine to understand the broader scope of an advanced attack. We look at more than just malware and detect known and unknown attacks. Our technology is akin to having a large staff of security experts monitoring your environment and continuously hunting for malicious operations.
